Dressing Up As a Video Game CharacterThis Halloween, my child wants to dress up as a character from a violent video game that we allow him to play. Should I let him?

Well, if you allow your child to play the video game and he spends a lot of time with this game, it is only natural that he may want to dress up as a character from this video game this year.  This is especially true if your child’s friends also play these games and they want to go out trick or treating together.  Since you allow your child to play the video game, it sends a mixed message to say they can’t dress up as a character.  However, you can request that no play guns and weapons be carried while he is in costume.  Many kids dress up as pirates with swords or cops with play guns, dressing up as a street gangster sans the weapons is probably just as appropriate on trick or treat night!

Good Luck!

Say It!
