    1. Any ideas when inviting boys to this kind of party? I don’t think they will want to decorate purses or come dressed up with pearls. I was thinking maybe le petit prince or as puppies. What do you think?

stephanie said on April 4, 2007
    2. Yes, you could make crowns and swords.or have them make little pouches to carry their stuff in ~ use colors like blue, greens, browns, etc. to make the pouches.

Le Petit Prince is a good theme to run next to Fancy Nancy as well. Check out this link for ideas:
      http://www.pepperspollywogs.com/blog/?p=512

Fancy Nancy tends to favor a party with girls. To move out the theme to include boys, you may want to do a prince and princess theme so it is more obvious how you can include the boys, unless you run two themes together, like Fancy Nancy and Le Petit Prince at the same time.

Here is a party plan for a puppy party too:

      Also very cute!

    3. Here are some photos from my daughter Hannah’s Fancy Fifth Birthday party which we had over the weekend. It was a great success to say the least and I had 3 mother’s asking if I did birthdays for a living. The invites were made on the computer and then glued on cardstock with a hot pink ribbon asking the girls to come to a soiree (soirée is French for Party).

      View Slideshow

If you know the story by Jane O’Connor (which is what the party is based on) then you will see how the party theme comes to light. I had three stations: Chic Sac where the girls decorated party purses with flowers and boas and feathers and glitter. A Haute Couture Station where they each received a hot pink boa, glittery “earrings that were really stickers, edible bracelets and fancy party crowns and learned how to “cat walk: for the end of the event.
At the Manicure/makeup station they received manicures, makeup done, hair done, etc….then we had “high tea” with fancy sandwiches (turkey and cucumber on whole wheat bread and strawberry cream cheese on white; fruit kebabs, number cutouts and a cupcake stand …I baked/made everything. Even the goodie bags! We read both stories also.

    4. I loved your ideas. How long did this all take. I’m having a Fancy Nancy Party for my daughter and have allowed 2 1/2 hours. Is that enough time to do a party like that?
      Thanks!

    5. An idea i had is to decorate three card tables with fancy linens. Make a Fancy Name Plate for each of the guest. It will be fun for them to find their name and take a seat… ready for tea! Make sure you let the birthday girl help as much as possible!

    7. It took 2 hours and I had two helpers plus myself at each of the three stations. I had a friend of mine and my daughter’s babysitter to help.

    8. Cupcake are great at this age and their faces light up when they realize they get their own “little cake” to enjoy. Or you could bring in the book to your local artisan bakery to see how they could encorporate the idea. If you want to stick with Fancy Nancy colours, make sure you use lots of fushia and hot pink. Martha Stewart had the author on one of her episodes and they even decroated the cake stand with hot pink boa along the edge which looked nice! Have fun with it!

    9. we are doing a fancy nancy party for my soon-to-be 4 year old. she’s inviting immediate family and 3 friends. we are just doing it like they did it in the book…a pizza party (she decided that she wants it at home, so that she can dress everyone up!) maybe it’s because she’s younger…but we aren’t doing ALL the fanciness. i think the book is more about being fancy…but still being real. so we are having pizzas, dressing fancy (having some accessories that we purchased and borrowed) and having parfaits. simple but fun – and a little fancy!

    10. We are having a Fancy Nancy sleepover party for my 5 year old and 2 year old. We have four children coming over with their moms (who will also spend the night). The children are going to make their own Posh Pizza for dinner. I am also serving fabulous fruit kabobs, charming cupcakes and whatever else I can make fancy. The mom’s will have some fabulous martini’s. I am planning on using lots of tule and turning three rooms into different stations. One will be a high end department store for when they decorate their purses, another room will be the Spa where they will get their hair done and a mani-pedi. I also found some really fun plastic ware from Oriental Trading coming called “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”. Also, I made the invitiation by taking a picture of the girls all “fancy” and then doctored it with some software I have at home to make it girly. It turned out very cute and was so easy and affordable.

    13. I did a Fancy Nancy party for my daughter last year when she turned 3. She loved it so much, she wants to do it again this year. I used some items from a website for bookstores to promote the posh puppy book. http://www.harperchildrens.com/webcontent/activities/pdf/0060542101.pdf
I printed the nametags onto cardstock and cut out Nancy to paste on invitations printed on the computer. We had regular old peanut butter sandwiches, but we cut them into squares and put frilly toothpicks in them. We had, of course, parfaits with lots of whipped cream and sprinkles. We decorated foam tiaras with jewels bought from oriental traders. We had a fashion show after the girls dressed up with the accessories (boas, necklaces, hats and large pieces of chiffon fabric that can make dresses, capes, skirts…). The girls had a great time and went home with pencils with a little bag of goodies with a pencil with a plume on it. It’s lots of fun.

    14. I am planning my daughter’s 2nd birthday and have found some great “fancy nancy like” items. There is a new line of products called Glitzy girl and it is just like fancy nancy. I found these items at my nearby party store. I held up the paper plates to the covers of my books and it is weird how perfect they are. anyway, we are going to have make your own pizzas and make your own parfaits too! I am sending each friend home with a goody bag that is a glittery butterfly gift bag and in it I have necklaces, stickers, rings, bubbles, bracelets, sidewalk chalk and plume pens; for the boys I got fancy cars, stickers, a gift certificate for a free cone at ben and jerrys, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, and sunglasses. I will also read the book and the girls will decorate tiaras with self adhesive princess shapes. I love the nametags and coloring pages on the harpercollins website. Good luck to everyone!

my invitations will be two pictures of my daughter; the first one will be titled PLAIN with a pic of her in a tshirt and jeans and then her 2nd pic will be with her party dress, tiara, boa and sparkle shoes and say “fancy”. You are cordially invited to Summer’s birthday soiree and the details and instead of rsvp I will write out the french words.:) Please dress in your fanciest attire.

    18. We are having a Fancy Nancy 4th Birthday party this week. I have one daughter and 3 sons, so I had to include the boys. I bought top hats and put those into the “Ooh La La Boutique.” Each boy can choose a top hat where the girls choose jewelry & accessories. I called the area “La Chic Chapeau.” I also set up a station called “Nancy’s Neck Ties” where I cut out black foam bow ties and neck ties for them to decorate with foam stickers and glitter glue and other stickers. I put small elastic around it so they could put the tie around their neck. Another idea I had was to make tuxedo t-shirts for the boys. My boys have actually been helping me and are looking forward to the otherwise very girly party. Hope that helps.

When I say it is the exact same I mean it. Check out http://www.haloheaven.com. Most of the items are sold by the dozen, but you can’t beat the price. My daughter got very excited when she saw what we were getting for the party.

Another website I am using for the cupcakes is http://www.fancyflours.com for the princess cupcake crowns and edible jewels to put on top. I got the website from Cookie magazine. They did an article on princess birthdays in their May edition. I am looking for some kid-sized pink cateye sunglasses for favors. Has anyone found any at a good price? What about a poodle skirt for the birthday girl to wear?

    26. I’m planning my Daughter’s 3rd birthday as a Fancy Nancy Party with her girlfriends and doing a seperate party at the playground for the boys (at this age her boy friends are just too crazy to have over to our home). We’re haveing a Tea party with her Princess tea set (the tea is Apple Cider which is just in season for her birthday), we’ll play put the jewl on the crown(jewled stickers can be found at the dollar store and you can make your own crown out of paper), they get to decorate their parfaits and they will also be dressing up. I downloaded these adorable Fancy Nancy coloring pages from the Harper Colins site and we are going to make little coloring books for the girls to take home and include glitter crayons, boas, sunglasses, lip gloss and braclets in their bags. The One Spot at target always has good deals on that stuff and if you’re a planner like me you can get them when the stuff goes to 75% off. At walmart they have cute little pink and light blue parfait kits and we’re going to get some of those plastic champain glasses to put them in and let te girls put on the toppings. Plus we’ll probably make some little turkey and cheese sandwiches (those are my daughter’s favorite) and put in little toothpicks. And of course we’ll be reading the books. My mom’s so excited she’s already gotten my daughter the doll for her birthday. It seems like a lot but it can totally be done on any budget.
My mom is a school teacher and last year she had a Fancy Nancy party with her class and it was so cute. The boys and girls dressed up, they made bracelets for their mom’s for mother’s day. They read the books, talked fancy, raised their pinkies when they ate, and they all had such a blast. Including Boys in the Fancy Nancy party is really easy and they totally love it too, just be careful to make sure they have some male activities.

We have read all of the books several times over. Did anyone have their party at a different location (like a Little Gym or similiar) and how did that work out? I could hardly see the little girls get dressed up to do tumbles and gymnastic stuff. Any other ideas for locations to have the party? I am also trying to find any ideas for a Posh Puppy cake? Does anybody have any creative ideas? Thanks for all the great ideas.

Sorry its taken me so long to reply – i have no idea how I can attach a copy of the invite I made although i actually have a photo of it. I can suggest this; the Fancy Nancy book invite is the template I used however where it said loation I would handwrite our address and then add on the bottom other information pertaining to the party. I then glued this to hot pink card stocka nd attached a purple grossgrain ribbon to the top of each and my daughter hand delivered each one. I think anything could work here – just download images of Fancy Nancy and have fun xxx

The girls will have a crepe dinner (pancakes), cake and ice cream and get Fancy. We’re doing their nails – with tons of glittery stuff, boas and tiaras, I’ve got BIG necklaces (courtesy of family in New Orleans), fun sunglasses, rings and a bracelet making kit for the girls. we’re going to read a few of the books, play outside on the swingset and do all the Fancy stuff. Can’t wait.

    37. I am having a Fancy Nancy Party for my almost 3 year old this weekend. I made the invitations using clip art I found online, used the fanciest verbage I could imagine. We asked everyone to come dressed in their fanciest. Since it is going to be mixed between boys and girls, I am doing unisex activities. Origionally all the kids were going to decorate butterfly wings, but I think that I will cut out some tie shapes instead for the boys to wear. i bought tiaras for all the girls (adult included if they want) and am still looking for top hats or crowns for the boys (nothing like last minute), we will be having a tea party. doing mini cupcakes vs. a cake and parfaits of course. Keeping it simple as she is still young, we made tutu’s to wear as part of our fanciness. This has been really fun to plan.

    38. I just threw my daughter a Fancy Nancy party for her fourth birthday. It was so fun! I made signs for each of the stations….The Posh Boutique, The Glam Salon….we had lots of dress up stuff. I made everything. I added pics on my craft myspace if anyone wants to see them…. http://www.myspace.com/craftymommie
We did a craft….for the girls they all sat at the Purse Parfait Parlor and decorated their own purses. The boys each got to decorate their own chalk boards, that I had my hubby make…that was super cheap and really cute! The boys loved it.
There are pics of the AMAZING cake my friend made for the party and cupcakes. I served mini hot dogs, banana’s, grilled cheese cut out in the shape of stars and hearts, chips, drinks. All the food for the kids was served on my china and had frilly toothpicks in each piece….very fancy! We used the Fancy Nancy plates, cups and napkins from Target.
All the girls took a turn at the Glam Salon. There was makeup for them to use, someone sat and painted their nails. I had spray on glitter for their hair and butterfly clippies!
The goodies bags were so fun! I had a bunch of fun stuff for the boys already in their bags, dinosaurs, glow in the dark teeth, army men, squishy frogs, funny face glasses with the nose…and CANDY! stickers and pencils.
For the girls they had some hair clips (I made) stickers, pencils, glow in the dark teeth, and candy in them….but they each got to pick two bracelets and a Fancy Nancy Necklace that I had made…alone with a pair of clip on earrings a wand and a ring! It was so fun!
I have lots of pics so check them out. Email me at the myspace website if you have any questions. This was so fun! I would love to help anyone with any ideas!

    40. My daughter turns 4 today and she’s having a Fancy Nancy Party. We have 13 kids and 4 of them are boys. I teach highschool so some of my students who are in dance & cheer are coming to help. The invites asked everyone to come in their fanciest attire. It’s from 2-4. There will be four stations and each kid will get a sticker nametag with the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4. They will go around to the stations in groups of 3 and my daughter will mingle around with each group. At each station well cross off the number so we know they’ve been there. 1 is Hair & Nails and will take the longest. The girls are spiking up the boys hair and curling and pinning up the girls hair. For nails the boys will get a little lotion-hand massage and the girls their nails painted. 2 is Skin and Make up. The boys will get a shave with real shaving cream & a fake razor and they’ll get cologne. The girls will get sparkly make up & glitter. Station 3 is the The Book Nook and we will read the A to Z Fancy Nancy Book to them. Finally Station 4 is “The Moves” and they will learn how to do a fashion show walk and my mom will write out notecards for each of them for the big fashion show. Then we’re doing presents and cupcakes. Hy-Vee Bakery asked for a picture of fancy nancy and they are making the cupcakes altogether like a cake in the shape of a girl and they are decorating it to look like fancy nancy! I was amazed. It will say, “Oooh la la! Fancy Halle is 4!” At 3:30 we will put on a fashion show for their parents & read the fancy word notecards for each kid that my mom wrote up in station 4. Should be fun! I’ve decorated the table with a boa and ribbons and their goodie bags include lip gloss & nail polish, fruit snacks, a blow pop, beads, a yoyo, and the boys get a little car instead of the gloss & polish. Have fun being exquisite everyone! :)

    41. We are having a FN birthday party for my 5 year old daughter, Kamdyn, and she is so excited. For the invites, I used my cricut and cut out “5′s”. I then glued them to plain white cards and used stickers and ribbons to make them “FANCY”. We will be having our party with aproximately 15 3-7 year old girls and loads of teen agers to help, at our local YMCA (where I work) after hours. Along with getting to swim, we will have several stations set up for the girls afterward. I purchased a couple of Fancy Nancy puzzles that I will put on one table, and some fancy foam frame craft that will be at another. I purchased plain brightly colored bags for the girls to decorate and make fancy at another table. They will use these as their goody bags for the pinata which is stuffed with jewelry, hair accessories, make-up and candy necklaces and ring pops (didn’t want too much candy). I also downloaded activities from the harper website and made a packet for them to work on at another station. In another room, my teen-age helpers will do make-overs and I have a friend who cuts hair at a local salon who will do trims for the girls (only if mom wants). We will provide a dress-up station and Papparazzi (that’s a fancy word for picture takers) will snap photos of each girl. We will use these in the thank you notes, as well. We will decorate our own Fancy Cupcakes, have fancy pink lemonade and purple punch. I am decorating rather simply, with hot pink and purple streamers, balloons and curling ribbon. Two friends will spend the night the night before and we will do pizza and fancy parfaits. Needless to say, my five year old baby is so very excited and can’t wait for the weekend.

I was in target with my daughter one day and she saw the Fancy Nancy dress up stuff and was hooked from there on..She has all the books, two dolls and tons of clothes…I am planning a Fancy Nancy party for this April which is her 4th b-day…I decided to just invite girls to make it alittle funnier if you ask me.. I too and playing to have different stations..On the invitations it asks the girls to come in plain clothes..Peyton will already be dressed up in her favorite Fancy Nancy outfit…I plan to make my own tutus…I do it for peyton all the time..its rather easy and comes out cheaper…It takes me 3 dollars to make each one or about 15 to buy them…I found the foam tiara and wands that they can decorate..I also found a put the jewels on the tiara (similar to pin the tail on the donkey)..Normal Peyton has about 20 to 25 kids but this time its just the girls from the family and a few of her friends from preschool.. So i will be able to spend a little more money…even though my husband says if there are less girls then I should spend less money…HaHa.,,I just wanted to say thank you to everyone..All of your ideas were great and I think I am taking a little from everyone…Good Luck with all your Parties…

    52. Thank you to everyone who has posted on this site. I got some great ideas from all of you. I did a Fancy Nancy party for my daughter who turned 6 on February 14th. She couldn’t wipe the smile off her face all day long. We ordered some great boas from http://www.haloheaven.com. All the girls had a great time. I also got some amazing ideas from http://fantasycelebrations.com/pages/fancynancysoiree.htm

I made a scrapbook as well. Here’s the link to Shutterfly: http://community.shutterfly.com/gallery/post/start.sfly?postId=/gallery/1/post/GMGDBg1aNmbNk3YA5LJ2Hs

    53. I threw a Fancy Nancy party at work for the kids and a couple of fathers came dressed up as well. It was so cute. Most of the things we did were boy friendly like serving cookies, making crowns, having top hats and ties for them as dress ups, using cool words, etc. We also printed out stickers and some other fun stuff from the Harper Collins Fancy Nancy site. It was so much fun and can’t wait to do it again.

    55. I just found out about Fancy Nancy. (Where have I been?) My daughter will be 9 next month. Is she too old for a Fancy Nancy party? I haven’t read any of the books or anything but I am just wondering if this theme is appropriate for her age. Any suggestions?
      Thanks!

    56. Fancy Nancy is a great theme for kids’ parties, even 9 year olds. It is a theme that you could build a fancy tea party around, which this age would love. Have fun planning!

    57. We recently had my granddaughters’ Fancy Nancy Party and what a blast. It was the first one in our area and all the mothers thought it was great. They dressed up too. We had extra boas and hats, rings, wands, purses, etc. and matching nail polish (blue, yellow, lime green, pink and purple) to match the hats and boas. They each got to pick they favorite color.

Check out E-Bay under toys and hobbies – dress up. You can get small amounts and good prices for the boas, hats, wands, etc.

    60. If you want to get creative, For party favors i’m making mini hat boxes. you can buy unfinished paper mache boxes at wal-mart for $1.97 or sometimes the dollar store will carry small round gift boxes. I’m going to spray paint them pink and then print out a fancy nancy sticker and lay it on the top and then paint the girls’ names with stencils. then finish it off with a gloss protective coat. But some string pearls or ribbon for a handle. inside put a feather boa, a string of pearls, a fancy pair of glasses or mask, a garland tiara, etc…. as mentioned above you can find most stuff at dollar stores or haloheaven.com

    64. We are doing the fancy Nancy party. For the boys I ordered top hat with magic wands which were very inexpensive, and I bought neck ties at Old Navy. I didn’t think many of the boys would have an old tux just sitting around. On the invite dress: Extremely Fancy Ensembles. Respond Sil vous plait – thats French for call me and reserve your top hat or tiara) I am ordering a jump house/slide to spice up our playground a bit. For an activity we are either going to stuff the puppy skins (a la Build a Bear) or decorate capes. I may just buy a puppy already suffed and let them make the dog collar. I have been able to find the unstuffed puppies for about $5 on line. We also got the pinata and I think the boys will like all those. However when they are under 7, I think they really enjoy free time more than planned activities. One other thing I have planned is to bring a free standing mirror and 2 hanging racks of dress up costumes for them to accessorize their attire. If you have an older child I think you could rent a limousine and pick them up from school. If your venue is close enough the limo would only have to make 2 trips to get all the children in the class. After that it probably would not matter what you did. (Mine are at the age that still requires booster seats but when she gets older I may consider it.)

    67. Thanks so much for sharing your comments. I had my daughter’s 5th birthday party at a dance studio. The dance teacher read the girls a FN story. After the hour of dance I had them take a picture in their dance outfits then they came into the party room. I had the table decorated with purples and pinks with all the FN books on the table. I used http://www.haloheaven.com and ordered boas and flower halo’s and suggested by an above poster. I did a mix of pink and hot pink. I ended up putting the boas and halos on another table and gave each girl a bag to go shopping. After eating and shopping the girls were able to go back into the dance room with their boas and I snapped another group picture. For my Thank you’s I put both the “plain” and “Fancy” group photos. The girls had a blast. I also had the crown cake pan which I picked up at Michael’s with a coupon. I have used the cake pan several times where last year we did a princess theme. I also got candy from Target the day after halloween. They had the large pixie stix and laffy taffy stix without any halloween items on themfor $1 for 36 in each box. They made great wands to decorate with a star on top.

    68. We had a Fancy Nancy themed party for my 4 yr old. Since we had 19 little girls RSVP I had two “teams” set up. The girls were told to dress fancy for the party and when they arrived they were given a pipe cleaner to bead into a bracelet (color of pipe cleaner = team they were on). After that they were told to select a felt purse to decorate. I used this placement purse tutorial but with felt that was 27 cents! http://www.jcarolinecreative.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Store_Code=JC&Screen=PLACEMAT I also have a table with coloring pages downloaded from here http://www.fancynancybooks.com/#/parents/partycentral/2/ and crayons. Once everyone arrived I read the Fancy Nancy book and we played three games: Fancy/Plain game, Pin the Jewel on the Tiara and the Fancy dress up shoe race. After the games the girls were given fake money and told to go “shopping” at the Oh La La Boutique where they paid money for a feather boa, ring, necklace and sunglasses. We wrapped up the party with make your own parfaits and cupcakes.

    69. Hello Everyone,

I always have great fun putting myself in Nancy’s fancy shoes when I receive each of Jane O’Connor’s manuscripts for a Fancy Nancy book. Our latest collaboration is no different.

Fancy Nancy: Poet Extraordinaire celebrates Poetry Month. Nancy’s love of fancy, beautiful language makes her just the right guide for young children to explore and have fun with poetry.

When I first got the story, I started to imagine what kind of dress-up Nancy would pull together to wear for writing poetry — something Shakespearean perhaps, or reaching back even further to Homer? Then came the footwear! Ever crafty, Nancy could easily assemble her version of ancient footwear with a pair of flip flops and some ribbon. Voila! The cover illustration started to take shape in my mind…

I will be signing Fancy Nancy: Poet Extraordinaire on Sunday, April 25 at 3:15pm at the LA Times Festival of Books, held at UCLA. Come by the Target Stage at 2:55 p.m. for a reading of our newest book and afterwards, I love to meet other Moms, sign books and greet your kids. Hope to see you there!

      With best wishes,
      Robin Preiss Glasser

    70. WENDY,

I was wondering the same thing about a 9 year old. She loves Fancy Nancy, has always loved getting fancy. I was planning on doing a party similar to a fancy tea party, and then I thought about Fancy Nancy. I just hope I can upscale it enough to make it feel old enough.

I love the shopping idea (might hand out plastic or real coins as they come through the door so they can shop in the boutique), and the salon was something we were going to do anyway. The tea party will be great too!

Any other ideas of what to do with 9 year old girls?

    71. I’m planning a Fancy Nancy party for my youngest daughter’s first birthday. We have just as many boys attending as girls. I don’t have everything planned yet, but we’re serving “tea party” finger foods. We’ll have everything labeled in french with the “Fancy Nancy definitions” underneath. The party will be in my mothers beautiful backyard garden with fancy decorated tables for four throughout. I’m going to hang chinese lanterns from the trees and put tulle, & flowers along the fence. The girls are going to make masquerade masks using jewels, feathers & glitter to wear during the party. The boys are making top hats to wear. Then all the kids (a la Explorer Extraordinaire) will be making bug boxes & working binoculars. (All crafts found at orientaltrading.com) Then, they’ll go to a reading corner to hear the above mentioned Fancy Nancy book. Afterwards, they’ll be going on a bug hunt for bug erasers all over the yard wearing their masks/hats & using their new fancy explorer equipment. (“Just because you’re exploring, doesn’t mean you can’t be fancy!”) I think the smash cake is going to be a teapot and the kids & adults will all get cupcakes made to look like teacups. (I think I got the teacup directions from the family fun website.) I’ll probably have my sister set up in the “reading station” to read Fancy Nancy books to anyone who wants to listen. I was hoping to have ice cubes with raspberries frozen in them or use a star ice cube mold (birthday express?), but I don’t see how I can get that to work with an outdoor party. Looking forward to the party! I still have to come up with something fun for the invitations ASAP That’s fancy for “I’M RUNNING OUT OF TIME!” (tee-hee!)

They have a full dresser of dress up clothes, the entire place looks like it came out of a Fancy Nancy book, the girls get to decorate their own cupcakes and the birthday girls cupcake is delivered in a cinderella carriage to blow out the candle. too cute….I am trying to work on other entertainment and gift bags and welcome any and all ideas!!!

    77. I am planning a Fancy Nancy party for my two daughters. We are handing out paper crowns and feather boas for the girls (www.partyfeathers.com) and pirate hats and compasses for the boys. We’re renting a princess bouncer for the backyard so I know that will entertain the kiddos but I’m trying to think of some good games. I’m leaning towards a treasure hunt since the boys will have a pirate thing going on. Any other ideas for party games?

    78. As far as fancy nancy clip art I just scanned a fancy nancy book I got at the library and used that to make my personal invitations. I have photoshop so I was able to make my own clip art and put it in microsoft word and added my own wording. Here’s the invite wording:
      Ooh la la Darling!
      You are cordially
      invited to
      Laura and Claire’s
      Fancy Nancy
      Birthday Soiree!
(That’s a fancy word for party!)

      Noon-3:00pm
      our address
      Respondez s’il vous plait
(That’s fancy for call our Mommy.)
      our phone number

I’m setting up an ice cream (aka parfait) bar where the kids can make their own ice cream cones complete with sprinkles! Fancy!
I’ll post pics of the invite along with the decorations after the party. Happy Planning!

    79. i am working on a FN party for boys and girls. it will definitely be loaded more towards girl swag, but i am trying to choose materials that are fancy, but give kids more choices. at the decorating station, they can choose either a foam tiara or a derby (not assigned to boys or girls) to decorate with foam stickers and gliterry things and some pirate stuff too. and since fancy nancy also likes to explore, i bought each kid a butterfly (papillion!), a bird, and a bug (glittery ones about 2-3 inches big) from the craft store (all different) and will make a field guide for each child to go on a hunt in our backyard with backpack and binoculars to find their own species (that’s a fancy word for craft store bugs and birds). i’m trying to be fancy without being too girly. my girl LOVES fancy nancy, but she’s a tomboy at heart who likes ACTION! the boy table place settings have necklaces, eye masks, and other fancy stuff, but just more primary colored and less pinky than the girls (my four year old son helped pick it all out). we even found lightning mqueen rings, lol.

I would kind of feel bad for the guys of the family to sit thru all the glamming up and fashion show…not sure what to do. Help!

    81. We did the Fancy Nancy theme for my daughters birthday two years ago. I bought Fairy Wings and Pirate hats at the dollar store so both the boys and the girls could be involved with decorating them with Glitter glue, Foam stickers, Pom pom balls, feathers and jewels. All the kids loved it and we made little individual pizzas and each child was able to “decorate” their pizza with all the toppings they liked . We made out own invitations (again with lots of glitter glue and feathers) and the kids had such a blast being in charge of their own creations …. now two years later my daughter still talks about wanting to make the little pizzas and decorate wings again for her next party.

    85. I am planning my 4 year olds FN tea party. Creating invites on parchment paper using all the “fancy” language. The girls are coming all dressed up. Cupcakes on a tier all decorated differently (cotton candy on top, pop rocks, edible candy jewels – they pick). We are having the party under a historic oak tree near a local museum. The girls get a real carriage ride in downtown. Their “accessories” will be a purse, gloves, hat and more. Finger sandwiches cut out of fancy shapes with cookie cutters. Fruit kabobs and lemonade. Paper lanterns hanging from the trees with real table linens. Wish me luck!

    86. You guys have some great ideas! My daughter’s party will be in June and we are so excited. I found ceramic tea cups at the dollar store and will be using them for 2 things….one as a “place card” I will put each child’s name on the tea cup with a porcelain marker and then the children will be able to decorate the tea cups as their craft. I found paints at Micheal’s that you can use to paint on ceramic. We are decorating with lots of tulle and pink and purple. We ordered tiaras and boas from halo heaven, which is amazing!!! I found invitations on vista print for $4. They aren’t FN but tea party themed, can’t go wrong.

We are setting up stations that mimic the books- kids will decorate their own cupcake and sundae, make craft for the musuem, and dress-up relay. I plan to take a picture of all the kids that attend to give as a favor. Most everything I got at the dollar tree. They have a great selection of fun things that both girls and boys will like. Also, I bought a bunch of the clear frames that the kids can decorate to put their picture in! Hope that helps. Easiest party I have ever planned!

    92. Just had a FN party for my 4 year old—crazy fun!! I placed an order from Halo Heaven and that was the best idea!! I let the boas, tiaras, pearls, etc be the favors that went home with the girls. Boys were princes; they had paper crowns, and Dollar store shields of armor.
Crafts: Girls decorated ribbon hats from Halo Heaven with buttons, feathers, rhinestones. Boys decorated brown paper bag vests.
Food: fancy shape turkey sandwiches, pretzal rods with pink marshmallows, mickey mouse shaped cheese, fruit kabobs (see Pinterest.com) Pink Lemonade with raspberry ice.
Cake: we ordered a cake topper from a shop on Etsy–very easy!
Decor: $1 store–anything pink, purple and lime green!
I had printed the coloring pages from Harper Collins but they didnt’ get touched.

The boys did spend most of their time outside, so luckily we had a bean bag toss set up.
      have fun!
